Adela Herrera Cantu

Adela H Cantu, April 9, 1936 - August 6, 2024 Adela Cantu, 88, was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She passed away peacefully at the Tulare Healthcare and Wellness Center on August 6, 2024. Adela was born in Muchachos, Mexico. She worked as a farm laborer in her youth in southern Texas. When the family moved to California's Central Valley (Kingsburg, CA), she worked at Aslan's packinghouse for several years and at Del Monte Cannery for approximately 20 years. Adela met her husband Ramiro and they married a few years later. They joined their families. Ramiro was a widower with three boys and Adela had three daughters, the original "Brady Bunch". They would later have a son named Arthur. Adela enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. The holidays were always her favorite events. She loved when the grandchildren would come visit and spend time at the house. Adela also loved being outdoors tending to her garden. Adela enjoyed community involvement. She was a member of the Centro Social Mexicano, and served as its vice-president. The group raised funds for high school scholarships. She was also a member of the Kingsburg Catholic Women's Club for a number of years. Adela comes from a large family. She has five living siblings, Ernestina, Ramiro, Elva, Johnny & Rosie. Family gatherings were always the best, filled with food, love and laughter. She enjoyed every minute with her grandkids. Adela is preceded death by her husband Ramiro Cantu, Sr., her father Pedro Herrera, mother Alejandra Herrera, sisters, Francis, Esolda, and brother Chuy, daughter Nancy, grandsons RJ and Helix Soto. Adela is survived by daughters Lupe Cruz, Gerri (Everrett) Serpa, and sons Ramiro (Sandra) Cantu, Henry (Francis) Cantu, Louie (Linda) Cantu and Arthur (Aida) Cantu. Adela had 19 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter. Viewing will be held 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Wednesday, August 21st, 2024 at Salser & Dillard Creighton Chapel, 1588 Lincoln Street, Kingsburg with the Rosary held at 6:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial services will be held at10:00 AM Thursday, August 22nd, 2024 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1275 Smith Street, Kingsburg immediately followed by interment at the Kingsburg Cemetery, 12782 E.
