Betty Rubalcaba Nunez

Betty Rubalcaba Nu�ez, 92, passed away on June 5, 2026, peacefully at home with her children by her side. Betty was born on December 31, 1933, to Mateo and Regina Rubalcaba in Guernsey, California. She grew up in Cutler, where she attended school and worked at the family business, Rubalcaba Market. It was there that she met the love of her life, James "Jim" Nu�ez. Betty and Jim were married on June 27, 1954, and soon welcomed five children: Gary, Janice, Susan, David, and Matthew. Together they shared 62 wonderful years of marriage until Jim's passing in 2016. Over the years, Betty and Jim made their home in Cutler, Fresno, San Jose, Kingsburg, and finally Hanford, where they settled shortly before Jim's passing. To know Betty was to love her. She had a beautiful smile and a true servant's heart. As the wife of a Catholic deacon, she devoted countless hours to her church and community through parish activities, gatherings, hosting dinners, and helping others whenever she could. Betty worked as a sign language interpreter at an elementary school for 12 years and also tutored children at her home. She found great joy in serving those around her. No one ever left Betty's home hungry. She always had a warm meal ready to share or a batch of freshly baked peanut butter cookies waiting on the counter. She was an exceptional cook, and when asked about his favorite restaurant, Jim would simply reply, "Betty's Kitchen." Betty enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading, baking, cooking, taking walks, spending time with her family, and making trips to Cayucos. Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She faithfully prayed the Rosary and continually lifted her family and friends up in prayer. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Mateo and Regina Rubalcaba; six siblings; her beloved husband, Jim Nu�ez; and her children, Susan Requejo (2025) and Matthew Nu�ez (1994). She is survived by her children, Gary Nu�ez (Yvonne) of San Jose, Janice (Jose) Aragon of Hanford, and David (Ana) Nu�ez of San Jose; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Betty's kindness, faith, generosity, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Services will be as follows. June 25, 2026 Viewing 4-6 PM. Rosary 6:00 PM.
