Wanda Mae Orum

Wanda Mae Orum, 88, a resident of Kingsburg, CA, went to be with the Lord Sunday, July 2, 2023. Wanda was born May 1, 1935 to Earnest and Faye (Edwards) Arthur in Porum, OK. She moved to California as a child and attended Caruthers High School. In 1951 Wanda married, and soon after welcomed two children, Terry and Marla. The family resided in Traver, CA on their cotton farm. Wanda spent many years working seasonally at Del Monte Foods in Kingsburg. When not working at Del Monte Foods, Wanda pursued her true passion as a property investor. Wanda later married Burton Nelson. The two enjoyed traveling and making memories with friends and family. Wanda and Burton spent much of their time living along the California Central Coast before moving to Kingsburg, CA to be closer to Wanda's family. Wanda was known for her love of cooking and baking. She spoiled family and friends with homemade pies, southern inspired dishes, and various other delightful treats made from scratch. Wanda also enjoyed gardening, the ocean breeze, and watching Western movies. Wanda's grandchildren were one of her greatest joys in life. They spent many summers at her beach house, boogie boarding and collecting seashells. Wanda was a loving and fearless woman, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She left a mark on the lives of everyone she met. To know her was to love her. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest and Faye Arthur; spouse Burton Nelson; and siblings, Paul Arthur, Chester Arthur, Maxine Meeks, Joe Arthur, Norma White, Euvone Lee, Floyd Arthur, and Barbara Floyd. Wanda is survived by her son, Terry Orum; daughter, Marla Perez and husband Leonard; grandchildren, Summer Hopkins and husband Cameron, Derek Perez, Janelle Perez Hughes and husband Adam, Kayla Cheney and husband Matthew, Alexis Perez, and Brandon Perez; great-grandchildren Jade Perez Hughes, Dylan Hopkins, and Blakely Cheney; along with a host of family and friends who will miss her dearly. Graveside services will be held 9:30 AM Friday, July 14th, 2023 at Oak Grove Cemetery, 19811 Cedar Avenue, Laton. Visitation will be held privately.
