Joan W. Griffin

Joan W. Griffin (Howe) 84, of Kingsburg, entered her eternal rest Friday, May 10, 2024, in Hanford, California. Joan was born to Ora Lee Howe and Bessie Stafford in Selma, California, on March 24, 1940. Joan married her first husband, Oscar Mabary, at the tender age of sixteen on January 10, 1955, in Fresno, California. They welcomed their first daughter, Paulla Collene on July 3, 1956, followed by, Sandra Ray on October 19, 1961. Sadly, Oscar passed away a few years after their youngest daughter was born. Joan married the love of her life, Jimmie Griffin on July 12, 1965. Joan and Jimmie were looking forward to celebrating 59 years of marriage this coming July. Joan was mostly a stay-at-home mother while her daughters were young, but she picked up a few jobs over the years until they decided to go into business full-time for themselves after Jimmie retired. The pair traveled all over California and across the country to buy and sell antiques. She enjoyed conversations, connecting and learning from others in the same industry, and making some life-long friends. Some of her favorite road trips, swap meets, and antique shows were in Texas, Pennsylvania, Missouri, Oklahoma, Mississippi, the Rose Bowl, Cayucos, and the Antique Farm Show in Tulare. Joan was predeceased by her daughter Sandra Mabary, infant son Jimmie Griffin Jr., parents Ora Lee Howe and Bessie Howe, siblings, and many other relatives. Joan leaves behind her husband of nearly 59 years, Jimmie Griffin; daughter Paulla (Lupe) Rodriguez. Her grandchildren Johnny (Lindsey) Beasley and their children Alexandria, Aubrey, Luke and Richie Beasley; Michael Beasley and his children Kylie and Aiden Beasley; Mark (Christina) Beasley and their children Echo Hall, Elise Case, Thomas Beasley and Emma Compton (Beasley) along with one great-great grandson, Phoenix Compton; sisters-in-law, Judy Youders (Roger), Janice Griffin; Ruth Griffin and Mary Griffin, along with many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at the Delft Church of God, 5616 Lawrence Avenue, Dinuba, CA 93618 on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Kingsburg Cancer Volunteers, P.O. Box 26, Kingsburg, CA 93631 in honor of Joan Griffin an organization she felt strongly about.
