Obituary: Kathleen Elizabeth Pfeifer April 6, 1937 to January 21, 2021 Kathleen Elizabeth Beaumont, 83 of Reedley, California, died on Wednesday, January 21, 2021, in Reedely, California. Kathleen was born to Henry Pfeifer and Dorothy O'Brien on April 6, 1937 in Brooklyn, New York. A german young man, Henry Pfeifer met an irish girl, Dorothy O'Brien at a dance in Brooklyn. Love led to marriage and children: Kathleen Elizabeth Pfeifer was born on April 6, 1937 followed by her sister Harriet and brother Hank. From an early age, Kathleen loved to swim, roller skate and ice skate which she continued to enjoy throughout her life. She truly loved her Catholic Faith but her all girls Catholic high school, not so much. She attended Hofstra University, where at the cafeteria she met a young man just back from the Korean War - David Beaumont. A long chat led to an invitation to a veteran's dance, to which she replied, "I'll let you know after I ask for my parents' permission." Thankfully they said yes! Marriage soon followed and four children: David, Jeannine, Paul and Gregory. The family moved across the USA in 1968 to the San Fernando Valley in California. She was a dedicated and loving mother who provided many opportunities for her children - music and art classes, various pets, gardening, sports, scouting, Catholic schools and most of all the gift of a wonderful family with so many special celebrations and family outings together. She loved the beach, playing in the snow, riding bikes, skating, swimming, picnics and adventures in the mountains. Kathleen and Dave enjoyed traveling together to destinations including Bermuda, Florida, Hawaii, France, Germany, Italy, Peru and Ireland. She was blessed with five grandchildren: Megan, Shannon and Daniel Mahanes and John and Joseph Beaumont. With two sons as priests, she met many priests, several Bishops and personally met Pope John Paul II. She had a gentle and loving heart, compassion for others and a special love for children. The family wishes to sincerely thank Orchard Park and Sierra View homes where she received loving care and support in her final years. A Poem for Mom You saw my body withered and weak Struggling to breathe, unable to speak Panting and gasping, my hands then turned cold Then began my new life, I'm no longer "old"! To see who I am, Faith will open your eyes. My soul ascends like a dove, like dawn's light I arise. I'm a newborn baby, a toddler, a cute little girl All dressed up and ready for my first day at school I'm a teenager, a girlfriend, a bride, wife and mother I'm a grandma and grandchild, not just one or the other. I'm all that I was and all I can be Because Jesus my Savior from death set me free Now don't be afraid, He will help you to see How to live like a saint, then come be with me. by Fr. Gregory Beaumont
