June Marie Moran

June Moran was born on November 2, 1923, in Harrisburg, PA, to Alexander and Esther Schory. She was the second of five children (2 daughters and 3 sons). She departed this earth on August 10, 2026 after living a long and fulfulling life. She was the last surviving member of her family. June attended Herbert Hoover High School in San Diego, CA and graduated in February, 1942. World War II had already begun. In January, 1944, she joined the U.S. Marines Corps and served two years stateside at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. After the war, June went to temporarily live with her older sister, Sarah Karr, in Culver City, CA. It was there she was introduced to her future husband, Michael Moran. They were married on January 26, 1947 at Grace Lutheran Church in San Diego, CA. They subsequently purchased a home in Los Angeles (Westchester), CA, which became the family home for 43 years. There they raised four daughters; Vickie (Lane), Janet (Swenson), Peggy (Emmons) and Susan (Anderson). The girls were fortunate to have a "stay-at-home" Mom for most of their childhood years. June returned to the workforce in 1967 and was employed by the LAUSD, Emerson Manor Research Center as their Classified Staff Office Manager until 1989 when she retired. In 1991 she moved to Kingsburg to be closer with family. Here she met many wonderful people with whom she has shared special friendships. A life-long Christian, she became an active member of Concordia Lutheran Church where she served on the Church Council as Church Secretary and then later as President. She was also a member of the Church choir and various Women's groups, including Esther Circle. She also became active in many different community organizations and clubs, including multiple Bridge, Pinochle, and Bunco groups as well as Kingsburg Tuesday Club. She has traveled the world with friends and family. Her last European trip was to Italy at age 89! Even with all of these activities she always made time to spend with all her family. Affectionately know as "Gram" or "Grandma June" she is Grandmother to five grandchildren (Erin Furlong (Anthony), Kelly Hernandez, Chris Anderson (Colette), Alex Anderson, and Marissa Hamilton (Ian) and Great-Grandmother to six great-grandchildren (Kaleb Hernandez, Christopher Hernandez, Olivia Furlong, Khloe Furlong, Presley Furlong and Marcus Anderson). She is survived by her children Vickie Lane (Steve), Peggy Emmons (Mark), and Susan Anderson (James, deceased). Her daughter Janet Swenson, precedes her in death. We have been blessed beyond measure to have been able to share this journey with her. She will forever be remembered in our hearts. A graveside service to celebrate June's life will be held on September 4, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Kingsburg Cemetery, located at 12782 E Clarkson Ave, Kingsburg, CA.
