A EUOLOGY for SADIE TAHMAZIAN 1932 - 2020 Sadie Tahmazian passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 26,.2020 in Fresno California. Sadie was born on January 22, 1932 to parents Apgar and Seeroon Jonigian of Watertown, Massachusetts. Tragically, Sadie lost both of her parents early in life! She lost her mother as an infant and then her father at the tender age of 18! The love of her family kept Sadie strong and helped to guide her during these impressionable youth full years. Her late and beloved sister, Vee Vartanian along with her late husband Bob Vartanian took Sadie under their wing and provided a warm and comforting feeling for Sadie. They meant the world to Sadie and her family and will always hold a special place in our hearts. Sadie's father, brother and sisters decided to move across country from the East Coast to Hollywood, California when she was a young girl of 11years old. They wanted to start the next chapter of their lives. Sadie always reminisced about the wonderful memories she had growing up in Los Angeles in the 1940's (The Golden Ages). Sadie attended Le Conte Junior High School with the famous Carol Burnett. Sadie loved passing time by going to the movies and lunch with her sisters Vee and Kay. The sisters especially enjoyed going to the World Famous "Grauman's Chinese Theatre". Sadie and her sisters loved their new neighbor, Mrs. Gray. Mrs. Gray took the children under her wings trying to provide a somewhat normal life for them, during their childhood and adolescence in the absence of a mother. Although Sadie was now in Los Angeles, she always had a love for the East Coast and more specifically the New England area!. She enjoyed watching and supporting the great sports teams in Boston and listening to the Boston Pops. This was where she spent her younger years with relatives and friends and for that reason, Massachusetts was always very dear to her. In 1948 Sadie moved from Hollywood, California to Sanger, California along with her father and brother Johnny. Sadie's father, Apgar always had a dream of living on a farm! Sadie's father passed away in 1950, sadly it was just before she graduated from Sanger High School in 1951. After graduation Sadie started her new journey in life and began working. Sadie frequently visited her sister, Vee and brother in law, Bob at their home in Los Angeles. It was in 1955, when Sadie met her future husband Don at an ACYO Dance on a "Friday the 13th" of all things! That "Friday the 13th" turned out to be a very lucky day for Sadie. Sadie and Don were married on October 5, 1957 and were blessed with two children Bryan and Lisa. Sadie was dedicated and devoted mother to her children. It was important to Sadie, that both her children Lisa and Bryan would grow up and learn the values and life's lessons in the Armenian Church. Sadie joined St. Gregory's Armenian Church in Fowler, California in the early 1960's. Sadie became a long time member of the Ladies Society and taught Sunday school for several years. It is for this reason, Sadie made so many life-long family friends and created wonderful memories and made her place in the Armenian community. Sadie loved gardening and was passionate about "what she planted" and "where she planted"! Her front yard and back yard were garden sanctuaries and a true testament to her love of flowers and plants. If anyone wanted to stay in "good health" they would be wise not to try and change any of Sadie's personal gardening styles! You could always find her in the yard planting bulbs, trimming roses or disguising a once active pond and waterfall? Sadie was also a member of the Hanford Garden Club, which she enjoyed up until a few years ago. Sadie was also an excellent cook and enjoyed baking and cooking for family and friends. Her Yalanchi was absolutely delicious! Her grandson Nikolai loved making simit with her. Her other grandson Christian loved her Armenian meatball soup. In 1977 Sadie began working at the Bank of America in Kingsburg, California with her cousin Suzanne Michigian. Sadie really enjoyed working at the bank, where she met many new people. Sadie worked there for nearly 25 years and lived 62 years in Kingsburg. She and Don had built a wonderful life there and have to this day life long friends that are loved dearly. Later in life, her daughter Lisa got married and moved to Northern California with her husband Gregg. They lived in Clayton, California where they had two sons (Nikolai and Christian). Sadie and Don frequently drove up from Kingsburg to Clayton to stay and visit. Later, when driving became more difficult, Sadie would take the leisurely train from Fresno to Martinez, so she could stay and visit Lisa and her family. Sadie enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her two grandsons. The boys loved to come and visit their grandparents in Kingsburg where they had fun riding horses, driving tractors with their Uncle Bryan and exploring the farm. Both Sadie and Don were so proud of Bryan's hard work and dedication to carry on the tradition that his father and his family started. Sadie is survived by her son Bryan, daughter Lisa and her husband Gregg Chorbajian and grandsons Nikolai and Christian and will also be missed by her nephews, nieces and cousins. . She is proceeded in death by her husband Don Tahmazian, parents Apgar and Seeroon Jonigian, sisters Koharig Sanders, Kay Pinson, Vee Vartanian, and her brother John Jonigian. The family would like to acknowledge and thank all of Sadie's care givers. You improved Sadie's life and were a true friend to her! You treated her with kindness and compassion over the past several years. Sadie, we love you and we will miss your presence dearly. We will think of you every day and NEVER forget you! We know you are finally at peace now and absent of any pain and suffering! We can see you cultivating all those flowers and plants in GOD's Garden! Go now and be with all your family and friends that you love. Good bye for now! We know that you will be watching over all of us, as our Guardian Angel! GOD BLESS You now and forever!
