Sandra M. Swanson

Sandra M. Swanson April 19, 1940 - January 11, 2024 Sandra passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Thursday, January 11, 2024. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was married for 63 years to the love of her life, Bill Swanson. She loved her family very much and always enjoyed spending time with them. Sandra never knew a stranger and was always willing to help anyone. She loved her dolls, cats, and her yard filled with orange and lemon trees, plants, and many flowers. Over the years she was active with her children through 4-H, FFA, swimming, and through the PTA when they were at Kings River Elementary School. She graduated from Clay Elementary in 1954, Kingsburg High School in the Class of 1958, and attended Notre Dame College for Girls in Belmont, California for one year. She loved to cook and was known for her rice pilaf and homemade pies which she donated for years to the Kings River Volunteer Fire Department annual Crab Feed and to the Gun Club State Shoot in her earlier years. She also made homemade candy suckers which she donated to many fundraisers and enjoyed giving away at races and out on the Pismo Dunes during family vacations. She loved the coast and had a special fondness to Pismo and Cambria and loved her mountain cabin in Shaver Lake. She loved to relax there in nature and go fishing on her pontoon boat with family on Shaver Lake. She is survived by her loving husband Bill, son and daughter-in-law Mike and Darla Swanson, daughter Valerie Thiessen, her 6 grandchildren; Megan Summers with husband Richard, Kody Swanson with wife Jordan, Tanner Swanson with wife Allison, Kristen Terry with husband Josh, Christopher Thiessen with wife Amanda, Amanda Tossey with husband Jason, plus 12 great grandchildren; Caylee, Jillian, & Jackson Summers, Trevor & Adam Swanson, Levi, Beckett, & Campbell Swanson, Abigail, Olivia & Henry Terry, and Logan Tossey. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law Don & Linda Swanson and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and mother Leroy and Ruth Giannini, twin sister Linda Kehoe, sister Susi Giannini, brother Leroy Giannini Jr., sister-in-law Hazel Swanson, daughter Sheri Duff, and grandson Nicholas Thiessen. The family also wants to share a special thanks to her wonderful caregivers Melissa, Jasmine, Alexis, Gina, and Samantha for their help and support these last two years. Viewing will be held 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM Wednesday, January 17th, 2024 at Salser & Dillard Creighton Chapel, 1588 Lincoln Street, Kingsburg. Funeral services will be held at11:00 AM Thursday, January 18th, 2024 at Salser & Dillard Creighton Chapel, 1588 Lincoln Street, Kingsburg immediately followed by interment at the Kingsburg Cemetery, 12782 E.
